My story

My story

Heimei’s journey to finding a home has been quite difficult. She grew up in a shelter and has lived in the Wugu and Xindian Animal Shelters. When she was about one year old, she was adopted, but after just a few days, she was maliciously abandoned on the roadside. She was then returned to the shelter, where she stayed for several more years. Perhaps because she had been abandoned, Heimei becomes very attached to people she likes, showering them with affection and trying to please them. She doesn't want to experience the fear of being abandoned again, and this insecurity is clearly visible on her face. In January 2025, Heimei entered PACK Academy. Being naturally affectionate, Heimei has learned how to communicate more appropriately and steadily with people. Now, she is ready for foster care! Would you be willing to help her?

We are looking for a foster home that is calm, principled, and does not give in to Heimei's demands for affection. Ideally, the owner should be experienced with separation anxiety and have time to accompany her!

Heimei

Personality

Heimei is a very smart and perceptive girl. She is good at reading the mood of others and will actively learn and show off behaviors to be liked. When praised, she becomes very happy. She knows how to guide people to fulfill her needs and enjoys reciprocal emotional exchanges—if you are kind to her, she will be kind to you! Heimei seems to have a lack of security and becomes a bit wary of strangers. She also isn’t very interested in befriending other dogs. However, she has a strong desire to gain approval and, with the right owner to guide her, she could be a wonderful companion dog!

1

Energy Levels

Heimei is generally calm, with only slight excitement before meals or walks. She is able to settle down quickly once given a command.

RELAXED ACTIVE

2

Temperament

Heimei is not an overly enthusiastic dog. When a stranger approaches her resting space, she becomes a bit nervous. However, after a few minutes of interaction, she warms up and becomes affectionate!

SHY SOCIAL

3

Role

Heimei prefers humans more than other dogs. She will guide people to meet her needs and enjoys emotional give-and-take. She is very affectionate if treated well. However, if there are other dogs in the home, Heimei will actively compete for the title of "most-loved" dog.

FOLLOWER LEADER

4

Adaptability

Heimei tends to feel nervous in unfamiliar environments but will relax after being in the space for a day. Giving her more exposure to the environment and offering clear guidance will help her adapt more quickly. However, she may still feel wary if strangers enter the space.

My Behavior

My Behavior

Heimei’s behavior is motivated by a desire to be the most beloved dog in your heart! She wants to be liked, so she will actively try to perform behaviors that people will find appealing, such as following commands and being attentive. Heimei actually lacks a sense of security and confidence and longs for a sense of belonging. Providing her with regular and sufficient walks, daily interactive play, and clear, consistent commands and hand signals will help her feel more secure and stable.

My Behavior

1

Tolerance Levels

At PACK Academy, we socialize our dogs by exposing them to different stimuli and recording their tolerance levels for each one. These oservations help us understand the dogs better, which then helps us find suitable homes for them.

Strangers

Heimei becomes a little nervous when meeting strangers but will warm up after a few minutes of interaction.

4

Dogs

Heimei is not very interested in other dogs. After becoming familiar with them, she might bark at other dogs and will likely seek humans for comfort. If living with other dogs, she will try to become the most pampered one!

3

Cats

Heimei has not encountered any cats yet.
