Social Butterfly
Adopt Poncho
Boy • 2 years old • Aries • White • 6kg • Bichon Frise
My story
In June 2026, Poncho joined PACK Academy from the Keelung Pet Bank. This two-year-old boy has had a turbulent past. Bought from a breeder at two months old, he lived with his first family for over a year. However, due to rough handling by toddlers at home and getting his face scratched while playing with cats, he was rehomed online. Sadly, just a month later, he was found wandering the streets, and his new owner couldn't be reached due to an untransferred microchip. Despite these hardships, Poncho remains an optimistic dog who loves people and other dogs; his past hasn't stolen his smile. He is now waiting for a forever home that truly understands him and commits to providing a lifetime of love and security.

Personality
Poncho is an energetic and highly adaptable little boy! Like a "social butterfly," he adjusts remarkably well to new environments, settling in perfectly within just two or three days without any behavioral issues. He is incredibly friendly to both people and dogs, always showing unreserved enthusiasm toward strangers. Whenever other dogs visit, he gets super excited and constantly wants to play, showcasing his deeply social nature. After walks, his energy peaks, and he often seeks attention by playing with toys or gently mouthing his owner's hands. Though lively, Poncho has a gentle temperament. He is a lovable, curious, and happy companion who infects everyone around him with his warmth.

My Behavior
1
Tolerance Levels
At PACK Academy, we socialize our dogs by exposing them to different stimuli and recording their tolerance levels for each one. These oservations help us understand the dogs better, which then helps us find suitable homes for them.
Strangers
Extremely friendly and approachable with strangers. Does not show fear and is willing to actively socialize.
Dogs
Highly social and friendly with other dogs. He is peace-loving and actively avoids confrontation. He may feel discouraged if barked at.
Cats
Very interested in cats. Has a history of getting scratched while playing with them, and may bark when play gets too exciting.
Kids
Friendly to people, but since toddlers in his previous home treated him roughly, interactions with gentler or older children are recommended.
Noise
Adapts well to general environmental noise, but may bark alertly if someone approaches outside the front door.
Touch
Loves physical contact very much, and will even gently mouth his owner's hands to seek attention and interaction.
2
Behavior observations
There are some common behavior issues that we see in dogs who have spent a significant amount of time in a shelter. We assess our dogs for these behaviors and provide training plans for adopters to help manage them.
Barking
Rarely barks generally, though whimpers occasionally at home. Barks only when someone is at the door or when overly excited playing with cats.
Separation Anxiety
Only mild dependency observed so far, with no severe destructive behavior or excessive crying when left alone.
Aggression
Absolutely no aggression. Establishing status during play with dogs is normal social behavior, and he yields easily.
Resource Guarding
No resource guarding towards humans at all, but exhibits food guarding around other dogs. Separate feeding is needed in multi-dog homes.
Destructive Chewing
No destructive chewing on furniture, but when excited, he likes to mouth hands or chew toys to release energy.
3
Obedience Training
Obedience training is critical for nurturing healthy dog-human relationships and having a well-behaving dog. Our dogs receive basic training at PACK Academy, which provides a foundation for communication between dog and human.
