My story

My story

Ponyo is an incredibly gentle and quiet dog. She entered the Taipei Neihu Animal Shelter in September 2025; at the time, she already had a microchip and was sterilized, suggesting she once had a home but was sadly abandoned. After waiting at the shelter, Ponyo was officially evaluated and rescued by PACK in February 2026, then placed in a foster home to begin her new life. Ponyo's left eye suffered from an infection of unknown origin. Currently, under the diligent care of her foster family, she continues to receive oral medication and eye drops, and her condition is slowly improving. While she still requires follow-up observation, it remains uncertain whether eye removal surgery will be needed in the future. Even while dealing with medical treatments, she remains emotionally stable and fully accepts being touched or handled. Ponyo deeply treasures human connection, and her gentle nature and profound trust in people are truly touching. She is waiting for a forever family who will attend to her medical needs and provide her with a permanent, loving sanctuary.

Ponyo

Personality

Ponyo has a "stable and gentle" personality and is very friendly toward both humans and other dogs. In her foster home, she is known as a quiet and adaptable girl. She has a moderate energy level; while usually calm, she performs an excited "dragon dance" the moment she smells food. She is a true "follower," preferring to stay close to your feet both at home and on walks. When meeting other dogs, she is sociable and willing to interact. Although she can be shy and seek protection when encountering loud barking, her overall social skills are excellent. Ponyo’s calm reaction to environmental changes and her highly tolerant nature, combined with her sweet "marshmallow" appearance, make her a perfect candidate to quickly integrate into any family life.

Foster Family Says

Ponyo is a very well-behaved and reassuring girl. She is extremely cooperative even with frequent eye drops and medication, and her eye condition has shown progress. She is usually very quiet and has a cute "bed-making ritual" with just a towel. Currently, she mainly needs consistent potty training to establish better habits.

No specific medical issues.
My Behavior

My Behavior

Ponyo walks perfectly on a leash without pulling, staying close to your side and showing great obedience. Her high food motivation makes her an excellent candidate for positive reinforcement training; although she doesn't know many commands yet, she is very eager to learn for a treat. She shows no signs of barking, separation anxiety, or destructive chewing. She is exceptionally calm during grooming and medical handling (cleaning ears/nails),making her ideal for apartment living. The primary challenge is her inconsistent potty habits; she sometimes has accidents after waking up, requiring patient guidance to use pee pads or establish an outdoor routine.
