My story

My story

Sasa is a dog who deeply craves love and belonging. She came from the Zhonghe Animal Shelter and joined the PACK Academy in June 2025. Perhaps due to past experiences of being returned, Sasa always tries hard to please her owners, which can sometimes manifest as anxiety or impatience. However, this shows how much she values connection. Sasa has immense potential; she is affectionate, smart, and empathetic. While she used to get over-excited and pull on the leash, this often stems from a lack of security. She needs an emotionally stable family willing to guide her through her excitability. Once she feels safe, we believe Sasa will become a wonderfully stable and loyal companion.

Sasa

Personality

Sasa has an "ENFP Campaigner" personality—emotional, expressive, and clear about her likes and dislikes. She is like a happy "wild child," full of curiosity about the world. While she can be cautious in new environments or with strangers, she becomes extremely clingy and affectionate once she trusts you, loving physical contact. She is very intelligent and observant, sometimes even trying to "train" her humans with her own rhythm. Sasa is an optimistic and positive dog who needs plenty of activity to release her energy, making her perfect for an active family who enjoys the outdoors.

Smart and quick to learn. While wary of new environments initially, she adapts quickly and feels comfortable when accompanied by her owner.

Low High
Foster Family Says

Sasa is very smart and reads the room well, though she might sneak onto the couch if you aren't looking. She loves toys and can play ball by herself for a long time, but be careful as she guards them. She is generally well-behaved at home with only mild separation anxiety. She is a happy dog perfectly suited for outdoor activities.

My Behavior

My Behavior

Sasa is an energetic outdoor lover. She tends to pull hard on the leash, especially towards grassy areas, requiring a strong handler to guide her. She can be wary of strangers (especially men or the elderly) and may bark, but she is enthusiastic about other dogs, sometimes overly so. At home, she may show mild resource guarding with food or toys, so caution is needed. However, she is highly food-motivated and smart, making her trainable with the right approach. Her separation anxiety is mild and usually settles within a few minutes.

My Behavior

1

Tolerance Levels

At PACK Academy, we socialize our dogs by exposing them to different stimuli and recording their tolerance levels for each one. These oservations help us understand the dogs better, which then helps us find suitable homes for them.

Strangers

Cautious around strangers, especially men or the elderly, and may bark. She judges whether to approach based on first impressions.

3

Dogs

Enthusiastic about other dogs, often rushing to sniff or observe them. She likes to lead play but can get overly excited. May redirect aggression towards other dogs when under excessive stress.

3

Cats

Currently shows no strong reaction; mostly indifferent or ignores them.

4

Kids

Friendly and stable with children, allowing pets. However, due to her high energy, adult supervision is recommended.

3

Noise

Unbothered by outdoor noise but sensitive to indoor sounds like neighbors or door opening, which may cause barking.

4

Touch

Loves physical contact. Once familiar, she actively leans in for cuddles and is very stable when being petted.

Behavior observations

There are some common behavior issues that we see in dogs who have spent a significant amount of time in a shelter. We assess our dogs for these behaviors and provide training plans for adopters to help manage them.

Barking

Barks when strangers enter her territory, at neighbor noises, or to get attention, but can be stopped with commands.

1

Separation Anxiety

Whines for 1-2 minutes when left alone, then settles down to sleep or play. No severe destructive behavior.

1

Aggression

Has previously shown aggression towards other dogs, but has no record of aggression towards humans.

0

Resource Guarding

Shows guarding behavior with toys or food, growling or snapping. Do not snatch items; use food exchange for training.

1

Destructive Chewing

No destructive chewing on furniture observed so far.

Obedience Training

Obedience training is critical for nurturing healthy dog-human relationships and having a well-behaving dog. Our dogs receive basic training at PACK Academy, which provides a foundation for communication between dog and human.
