My story

My story

Tom hails from Changhua, where he previously endured a harsh life confined to a small iron cage and bound by a short chain. This heartbreaking past has left a visible scar on the front of his neck, a lasting mark from the collar that once constricted him and a symbol of his resilience. In November 2025, he joined PACK Academy to begin his journey of healing and learning to trust humans again. While he was initially wary, this was simply his way of self-preservation developed over years. Tom's story is a chapter of rebirth; despite his history of extreme confinement, he is striving to explore the world and find a forever home where he feels safe and free from chains.

Tom

Personality

Tom possesses the soul of an "INFP Mediator"—cautious, delicate, and highly observant. As a "Sensitive Little Observer," he is acutely aware of sounds and changes in his environment, always quietly assessing the safety of his surroundings. While naturally shy and prone to withdrawing, Tom has a surprising trait: with the right guidance and a gentle "nudge" or slight pressure, he proves himself capable of overcoming challenges! This "need for a little push" reveals a hidden courage and a high level of potential cooperation. Over time, he has shown much more adaptive potential than initially expected. He has a conflicting desire for human connection, fearing hurt while deeply relying on familiar friends. Given enough security, this once-trapped little star will reveal his gentlest side, willing to be brave just for you.

My Behavior

My Behavior

Behaviorally, Tom shows great potential for obedience, especially when motivated by treats. Due to his extreme sensitivity to noise, he can become tense in loud or sudden environments and requires soothing guidance. During walks, he frequently scans his surroundings with high alertness and caution. Although the scar on his neck records his past suffering, his adaptability to the leash is steadily improving. When faced with unfamiliar commands or situations, he may initially hesitate out of fear, but as long as his owner provides firm yet gentle guidance, Tom can quickly overcome psychological barriers and complete the task. He is a thoughtful companion who rewards your patience with his own growing courage.

My Behavior

1

Tolerance Levels

At PACK Academy, we socialize our dogs by exposing them to different stimuli and recording their tolerance levels for each one. These oservations help us understand the dogs better, which then helps us find suitable homes for them.

Strangers

No longer fears strangers; while he may keep his distance initially, he is more open to interaction after a short observation.

3

Territorial with other dogs. If he’s not in the mood to socialize, he simply ignores them; generally peaceful.
