Persistent Shiba Master
Adopt Yia
Boy • 7 years old • Gemini • Yellow-brown • 14kg • Shiba Inu
My story
Yia is a 7-year-old, classically chubby and fluffy yellow-brown Shiba Inu weighing about 12 kg. He is affectionately called by his Taiwanese Hokkien name, which is pronounced like "Yia" (hence his English name). Abandoned in early 2026, he stayed at the Keelung Pet Bank until mid-May, when PACK evaluators brought him to the park for training and adoption. Yia has a strong personality and very much "lives in his own world," where balls and food are his absolute priorities. Despite his independent nature, he is actually very well-behaved. He will actively ask for pets or demand to go for walks. Impressively, he accepts all daily caregiving actions, such as being picked up or having his nails clipped, with great cooperation. When it comes to other dogs, he shows zero interest but coexists peacefully. We believe this sweet, well-behaved, and uniquely charming fluffy Shiba will soon find a loving forever home!

Personality
Yia possesses the traits of an "ISFJ Defender." He is a focused and opinionated boy. While he often lives in his own world, he has very clear boundaries regarding his preferences. His energy level is moderate; he is usually an independent follower but gets highly excited for walks, balls, or food. Yia is smart and practical, treating interactions somewhat transactionally—he responds best when his desires are met. Despite this, he is very friendly towards people, actively asks for pets, and shows high tolerance for caregiving handling. He is a good boy with a strong personality but a soft heart.
1
Energy Levels
Easily excited for walks, balls, or food, but remains relatively calm and steady otherwise.
2
Temperament
Cautiously observes when entering a new environment. Once he understands the rules, he avoids doing things that are not allowed.
3
Role
Highly persistent about walks, balls, and food. He is an opinionated and independent leader who lives in his own world.
4
Adaptability
Highly adaptable and quickly adjusts to new environments. As long as he has walks, balls, and food, he can settle in anywhere.
Foster Family Says
Still waiting for a suitable foster family.
Medical History
My health has been checked:
- Spayed/Neutered
- Microchipped
- Vaccinated
- Regular Worming Treatment
Yia occasionally experiences minor "abnormal electrical discharges" in his brain, which can cause him to cry out briefly as if startled. Please don't worry! After a thorough veterinary examination, we can assure you that this is absolutely not life-threatening (his overall health and bones are perfectly normal). He is currently doing wonderfully with regular daily medication, and he enjoys a happy, carefree life just like any other dog!
My Behavior
1
Tolerance Levels
At PACK Academy, we socialize our dogs by exposing them to different stimuli and recording their tolerance levels for each one. These oservations help us understand the dogs better, which then helps us find suitable homes for them.
Strangers
Very friendly and unbothered by strangers. Though he views humans as service providers, he easily accepts interactions and actively asks for pets.
Dogs
Shows zero interest in other dogs and doesn't seek interaction, but he can coexist with them completely peacefully.
Cats
Interaction with cats has not yet been observed.
Kids
No specific observations, but his stable nature and tolerance for petting make him suitable for respectful families.
Noise
Completely unbothered by environmental noises. He remains emotionally stable and is not easily startled.
Touch
Actively asks for pets and fully accepts all daily caregiving handling, such as being picked up and nail clipping.
2
Behavior observations
There are some common behavior issues that we see in dogs who have spent a significant amount of time in a shelter. We assess our dogs for these behaviors and provide training plans for adopters to help manage them.
Barking
Generally very quiet. He only barks occasionally when he has a specific demand, like wanting to go out.
Separation Anxiety
Shows absolutely no signs of separation anxiety and is perfectly fine being alone.
Aggression
Stable personality with zero aggressive behavior.
Resource Guarding
No resource guarding over food or items observed.
Destructive Chewing
Well-behaved indoors with no destructive chewing observed.
3
Obedience Training
Obedience training is critical for nurturing healthy dog-human relationships and having a well-behaving dog. Our dogs receive basic training at PACK Academy, which provides a foundation for communication between dog and human.
